’19 Alumnus Kaveesh Sunassee graduated from Vatel Business School Mauritius with a BA & an MBA in International Hotel Management.
It was to combine his childhood dream of serving mankind, coming across people from varied nationalities and cultures with his innate desire to always be on the move - exploring hotels that he had joined the institution.
Kaveesh says that he never regrets enrolling for the hospitality and tourism management school. “I was able to learn the ropes of every functioning department of any given hotel as part of my study course - thanks to my extensive traineeships undertaken at Imperial Garoupe (Relais & Chateaux, France), Courtyard Beijing NorthEast Hotel (China) and Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort (Vietnam)’’.
He further adds that every internship brought him closer to his dream job of being a hotelier and was surely reinforcing his sense of balance, flexibility, multitasking and more to excel in his chosen career path as Food and beverages manager.
When asked upon the memory he still cherishes most, he recalls that “I was particularly fond of every team building activity organised by Vatel Business School Mauritius (the most memorable one being at Ile aux Bernaches), my fun moments dressing as Santa Claus for several events. All of these only helped me in bonding over with my classmates at that time, better opening up and forming stronger bonds over the years’’.
He explains that team building for many employees is all too often understated whence it actually makes oneself more resilient and apt to achieve common shared goals of fostering creativity and innovation, enhancing the company guidelines, and so much more. And surely during these unprecedented times of covid-19, this is what will surely make a company stand out from the crowd.
Kaveesh has occupied several full-time tenured positions notably Assistant Food and Beverages Manager at Risemount Premier Resort Danang (Vietnam), Restaurant Manager at Maritim Resort and Spa to name a few. Now at Sikada Ltd as Marketing Manager, he endeavours to join the hospitality industry once it goes back to normal.
